Rio is a city that has a large number of beaches as well as numerous outdoor activities such hiking in the heart of the city, which is any ecotourist´s dream.

The best ecotourism destination in the city is the Tijuca Forest, located in the heart of Rio, inside Tijuca National Park and minutes away from most neighborhoods and one of the largest urban forest in the world. It boasts around 3.2 thousand hectares and is home to hundreds of species of fauna and flora that are only found in rainforests.

The amazing landscape from Chinese View and some waterfalls are beautiful places for locals and tourists.

Besides Tijuca Forest, Rio has numerous parks, where contact with nature is very close, such as Flamengo Park, a 1.2
million square-meter park landscaped by Burle Marx; the Botanical Garden, a veritable ecologic sanctuary with its lovely Imperial Palms and the home to 8.2 thousands species of plants. The King John VI of Portugal founded it in 1808 and his purpose was to acclimatize species like nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon imported from the West Indies.
